Shorts & Sleeves

May 29, 2012

I’ve always had a thing for longer sleeves and shorts. The combination feels a tad bit unexpected and is perfect for days where the temperature fluctuates with the time.

Printed shorts are everywhere this summer and while adorable, it can be hard to figure out what to pair with them. When in doubt, pick a solid color within the pattern. For a more out-of-the-box look, try pairing printed shorts with a complimentary color that is not within the color palette or a subtle pattern that doesn’t clash. With these shorts, I chose a solid navy top even though there isn’t any navy in the shorts.

Turquoise and purple is one of my favorite color combinations so my mind was already made up when I saw these shorts on sale at Loft last summer. See how I’ve mixed turquoise and purple before… here and here!

Navy Sweater: J.Crew // Shorts: Loft (similar) // Sandals: Sam Edelman c/o // Twitter Necklace: Bauble Bar // Watch: Michael Kors — 40% off! // Bracelets: J.Crew, Cara, J.Crew, Sequin NYC // Nails: OPI Gel Color ‘Strawberry Margarita’

Thanks for taking my pictures, Megan H!

Jessica, that necklace is amazing. I was just looking online yesterday for one (I also know you have a “Jessica” necklace as well) so I will be ordering mine TODAY. 🙂 Absolutely amazing!

I definitely recommend Bauble Bar for personalized jewelry! They have the regular name necklaces, too! 🙂

Can’t wait for dinner tonight! xo

Love the print on those shorts – though I think I would need mine a little longer to pull this off!

Cute combo Jessica. I like pairing long sleeves with shorts too, especially for summer evenings. Loving the bracelets and dying for a similar necklace. Sees and I will be gifting them to each other on our birthdays 🙂

I love printed shorts! I need to get some ASAP – for me, they’re great because they take attention to my bottom half, instead of my top, which I appreciate every now and then. 🙂 You look relaxed yet chic – this is a great weekend look!

Long-sleeved tees are my passion and I’m so glad it’s shorts season so I can combine the two. Sitting here in a Muni tee and my Eddie Bauer’s as I write – just proof, I talk the talk and walk the walk 🙂
