Miliary Chic

November 22, 2011

This was by far the hardest Bloggers Do It Better challenge for me yet. I went into my closet and said, “Where the h*ll is all of my army green?” I could have sworn I had a ton, but I was mistaken. What I would have LOVED to wear was my J.Crew white/blue stripe henley with an army green vest over it. I adore the look of navy/white stripes with army green. Slight problem: I don’t own said vest. *adding to my shopping list as we speak* And the even bigger problem: the J.Crew vest that I linked to doesn’t have the size/color combo I need.

So I had to improvise. My thoughts:: Army green top has sequins on it, but whatever. Military chic, right?! Chambray is military-esque, right?! (I still don’t know the answer to this question, but I can pretend.) Blazer has military-like gold brassy buttons.

I’m still in shock that I don’t have more military green. I mean, green is my favorite color to wear. It’s bizarre! Good news is that I used this experience to justify my purchase of Kristina’s first LINEBY item:: Glitterati by Pretty Shiny SparklySergeant Sparkle Blouse“. Don’t even get me started on how absolutely AWESOME it is that she now has her own line! So amazingly cool!

Sequin Top: J.Crew (similar long sleeve) (similar short sleeve)
Chambray Top: Madewell
Blazer: J.Crew
Jeans: Paige
Wedge Booties: Kelsi Dagger (a few sizes left on sale at ShopBop, too!)
Watch: Michael Kors

Yet another sequins and chambray outfit. Who knew?!

PS — Any vest recommendations for me?! 🙂

PPS — Check out the rest of the submissions!

This does look adorable! That military vest is a must have. I grabbed the one from Old Navy (like everyone else!), but I must say…totally worth it! It really seems to go with nearly everything!

Military or not, I love this look! The sequins over the chambray looks great. I seriously though I had something to work for this challenge but when it came time to put together a look, I had nothing! Definitely added some army green to my shopping list! (A good excuse 🙂 )
